Description Half Moon Bay is a picturesque beach that runs from the Heysham Harbour wall to the Heritage Centre at Lower Heysham. During high tide, the beach is small, surrounded by rocks, and flanked by grassy hills. However, as the tide lowers, a vast area of sand and mudflats are exposed. The beach offers magnificent views of Morecambe Bay and the Lakeland fells, with the chimneys of Heysham Power Station in the nearer view. This beach is situated close to numerous archaeological sites of interest, with St. Patrick’s Chapel ruins located close to the Heritage Centre. Heysham Head, nearby, is home to some of the well-known stone graves previously used for the Black Sabbath album cover. It is important to note that the fast-moving tides and unstable sands of Morecambe Bay can make it dangerous to walk far out during low tide without an experienced guide.

Children will love the interactive games and puzzles found along the promenade that will keep them entertained for hours. Make sure to snap a picture in front of the beautifully restored art-deco façade of the Midland Hotel. Description Welcome to Hest Bank! This is a charming village located between Morecambe and Carnforth and it’s known for its grassy foreshore and sandy beach. From here, you can relish the splendid views of the saltmarshes and mudflats of Morecambe Bay. However, please note that the area is notorious for its sinking sands, mud-filled gullies and fast-moving tides. For your safety, we recommend having an experienced local guide accompany you on any cross-bay walks. Your safety is our priority!Hest Bank is an excellent place to take in the incredible views across the bay to the Furness peninsula, with the fabulous fells of the Lake District in the distance. Suppose the chilly wind is blowing strongly. In that case, you can still appreciate the splendid views from the warmth of your car, parked near our small café, where reasonably priced afternoon teas and other treats are served.Lastly, Hest Bank’s wonderful beach is a haven for ducks, geese, and wading birds. Before high tide, it’s a privilege to witness the stunning display of waders gathering to roost here. Enjoy your visit!
